Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • Melted butter for brushing
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for a subtle sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon honey for a touch of natural sweetness

Equipment

  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). A high temperature is essential for those beautifully rising biscuits!
  2. In a large bowl, mix 2 ¼ cups of Bisquick baking mix with 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar. Stir them together for an even blend.
  3. Make a well in the center of your dry ingredients. Pour in ⅔ cup of buttermilk. Use a fork to combine until it forms a soft dough. Don’t overmix, or your biscuits will be tough!
  4. Flour a clean surface generously. Turn the dough onto this floured surface and knead it gently 3-4 times until it just holds together.
  5. Roll out the dough to about ½-inch thickness. You can use a rolling pin—just be careful not to overwork it.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out your biscuits. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet. Make sure they’re close together, as this helps them rise.
  7. Melt some butter and brush it delicately over the tops of the biscuits. This gives them a lovely golden finish.
  8. Slide your baking sheet into the preheated oven. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
  9. As soon as they’re out of the oven, brush them again with melted butter. Serve warm and enjoy every fluffy bite!

Notes

  • Keep Ingredients Cold – Chill your buttermilk and butter. This helps the biscuits rise nicely.
  • Don’t Overwork the Dough – Kneading too much will result in tough biscuits. Keep it gentle.
  • Use a Sharp Cutter – A sharp biscuit cutter helps create clean edges, resulting in better rising.
  • Bake Immediately – Once you cut the biscuits, bake them right away for the best texture.
  • Experiment with Flavors – Feel free to add herbs, cheese, or spices to the dough for a twist.
